Community Field Canvasser
New Jersey Citizen Action interns/staff will have the opportunity to challenge corporate power, organize communities for power, develop skills and gain knowledge. You can complete and submit an online Canvass Program Employment Application directly from our Website.
Participate In and Lead Campaigns To:
- Stop prescription drug corporations and health insurance corporations from ripping off low-income people
- Create more equitable taxes
- Reform campaign financing in NJ and the US
- Challenge utility rate systems
- Stop predatory lending
Build community and statewide organizations that are educating and organizing average people to get involved in political change.
Become part of the country's largest and most experienced grassroots organizing networks, Progressive Action Network and US Action. Receive training and mentoring. Travel opportunities are also available. Learn more at our Canvass Program page.
New Jersey Citizen Action Will:
- Hire, train and place interns in the field for an 8 to 12 week and/or permanent, intensive organizer/canvasser program.
- Provide daily workshops in areas of civics, money in politics, and history of grassroots organizing. Workshops will also teach skills and strategies in areas like grassroots outreach, communication, membership activation, strategic planning, electoral campaigns and issue campaigns.
- Provide ongoing supervision, evaluation and briefings.
Additional information
College credit can be coordinated with students and staff with pay available.
