Employment Opportunity For
NJCA EVENT COORDINATOR (FULL TIME)
New Jersey Citizen Action, the state's largest citizen watchdog coalition, with 60,000 members and 100 affiliate organizations, is accepting applications for the Event Coordinator position. Working under the direction of the Financial Education Project Director, the Event Coordinator will plan and implement the following programs:
- A Home of Her Own: Women’s Housing Initiative: An ongoing program that is part of NJCA's effort to make first-time homeownership available to low- and moderate-income women heads-of-households.
- NJCA Small Business Forum: This is an ongoing program to increase and expand small businesses in urban areas through education about available resources to small business owners and entrepreneurs in low- and moderate-income areas throughout the state.
- Other NJCA media and organizational events.
Examples of Work
- Schedule and coordinate at least two Home of Her Own events per year. These include large community-wide events open to the public, and/or smaller presentations to community-based organizations.
- Schedule and coordinate up to 68 Small Business Forums per year.
- Schedule and coordinate other media and organizational events as needed.
- Maintain up-to-date databases on all events, speakers and other contacts.
- Attend and support other NJCA events and activities.
- Other related duties.
Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to work independently, manage time, develop and maintain priorities and conduct multiple tasks in a specified time frame.
- Ability to be detail oriented and maintain accurate records.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (i.e. telephone and public speaking skills).
- Knowledge of community-based organizations and how to research and identify organizations in specific communities.
- Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Publisher.
Qualifications Include
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (experience may be substituted for education on a year-by-year basis).
- Excellent writing, computer, and telephone skills.
- Car, valid driver’s license and insurance required and must be willing to travel within New Jersey.
- Applicants must be available for evening and weekend work.
- Ability to speak and/or read Spanish or other non-English language is a plus!
Compensation
Salary Range $32,000$35,000 (depending on experience) plus comprehensive benefits.
