New Jersey Citizen Action’s A Home of Her Own: Women's Housing Initiative is a statewide program that reaches out to low- and moderate-income women heads-of-household who are currently renting their homes.
Our eighteen presentations in the past four years have reached almost 3,000 women, 90% of whom have entered the free Loan Counseling program, and almost 2,000 of whom have already purchased their first homes. Read the Courier Post article "Housing Program Helps Women" about this initiative.
Learn more about this program by watching our video, "A Home of Your Own: New Jersey Citizen Action's Loan Counseling Program" (links to our Multimedia page, for different viewing options).
SPECIAL NOTE FOR ORGANIZATIONS: In addition to public presentations, we offer A Home of Her Own: Women’s Housing Initiative programs to organizations that can guarantee attendance of a minimum of 40 individuals. These customized programs have all the components of the larger public event, but are at most 1-1/2 hours in length.
