NJCA applauds Ras Baraka's call for all gubernatorial candidates to have a robust racial equity platform

Newark—April 30, 2025—-New Jersey Citizen Action Executive Director Dena Mottola Jaborska issued the following statement today concerning statements made by gubernatorial candidate Ras Baraka at a press conference on April 29th, 2025.

"We stand by Ras Baraka's call for all gubernatorial candidates to have a robust platform addressing racial equity issues, or risk losing the critical support of black and brown voters. Too many of these voters are disengaged from the political process because their voices and concerns have gone unheard by the party establishments. NJCA endorsed Ras Baraka because he will directly address longstanding racial and socio-economic inequities that have plagued New Jersey. By addressing these deep inequities, and fighting for working families, our next governor can build a better New Jersey for everyone.

"With the general election just seven months away, it's vital that all our gubernatorial candidates, and especially the candidate that wins the primary, listen to and engage with communities of color and working families, and find real solutions addressing their challenges. We cannot win without them, but we need to earn their votes."
