What's the difference between GetCoveredNJ and NJ FamilyCare?

GetCoveredNJ is New Jersey's official health insurance marketplace, where residents can shop for, compare, and enroll in affordable health coverage. It provides access to quality health plans and financial assistance programs, such as federal tax credits and state subsidies, to help lower the cost of insurance. GetCoveredNJ is designed to support individuals, families, and small businesses in finding comprehensive coverage that meets their needs. Open enrollment periods and special enrollment opportunities allow residents to apply for coverage throughout the year under specific circumstances. For more information please visit https://nj.gov/getcoverednj/

NJ FamilyCare is a federal and state-funded health insurance program created to help qualified New Jersey residents of any age access to affordable health insurance. NJ FamilyCare is for people who do not have employer insurance. It covers just about every health care need. There are two main programs:

1. NJ FamilyCare, which covers children under age 19, adults, and pregnant women

    • Children can qualify regardless of their immigration status.

2. NJ FamilyCare Aged, Blind, Disabled (ABD) Programs, which cover people age 65 years or older, people determined blind or disabled by the Social Security Administration or by the State of NJ.
